A teen from Odenville, Alabama, has crafted a stunning 'Old Hollywood-style' prom dress using an unconventional material: duck tape. This creative endeavor has earned her a spot as a finalist in a national contest, challenging high school students to design and create prom attire using this unique medium. The contest, Duck Brand’s 2026 Stuck at Prom, offers a $10,000 cash scholarship to the winner. Kaitlyn Bowden, a student at Alabama Connections Academy, spent over 140 hours and 17 rolls of tape to bring her vision to life. The dress, a nod to the red carpet, features chrome tape on the front resembling camera flashes, chrome details along the bottom mimicking a film strip, and a back adorned with cascading stars. The accessories, including a necklace, bracelet, and a hat with a veil, further enhance the Old Hollywood aesthetic. Bowden's attention to detail and creative process have earned her a place in the top five in the dress category. Voting is open until July 13 on Duck Brand’s website, and supporters can cast their votes once a day to help Kaitlyn win the contest.
